"..."BETEUBUNG" includes this vapour coming in on you, so I think
we can well analyse the streets in major cities, this environmental
problem, as a form of "BETEUBUNG", which it is of course - literally..
it is coming in a gas and we donít behave normally, we canít think
as clearly, we begin to be inefficient. But the point is this:
It is imposed on us and we accept it because it conforms with
this moralistic demand on us - not to come out with aggression,
not to come out with a kind of possibly natural response - so
called natural. Natural always in quote, because there is no such
thing as natural, I think we can agree upon that. But you see,
the gas of the cars are there because it makes it easier for us
not to be aggressive. This is one way we can think about it. In
other words - it is self- imposed. We are collaborators, we certainly
are, there is no question - we donít need to live like this, we
are living like that.
It somehow conforms to a very deep development in humanity over
the last hundreds and hundreds of years".
