'breathing productions' is the first exploration into the act of breathing as a cultural phenomena, and the umbrella name for a series of events and investigations into the most fundamental condition for human life.

The act of breathing is a rhythm of the body that links our existence with everything else. In a shared experience, an exchange, we inhale and filter through our internal systems the expired air from others' breath. Breathing, therefore, constitutes a dialogue between interior and exterior movements, and a way of passing through the world.

Although the act of breathing conditions our very being, the mortality of the body determines our non-being. This contradiction evokes a simultaneous affirmation and denial of physical presence. This is reflected in our language, in our technology, and perhaps in our increasingly disembodied communication systems.

This web site explores the act of breathing as a starting point, a tool and a metaphor for the articulation of contemporary urban experience, and it functions as a base and information source for a series of events and research projects.
